Our tours are designed to be fun and to allow you to see and experience Costa Rica in a manner that very few people are able to do. We not only show you the natural beauty of this most unique country but also give you an in depth cultural experience. We are able to incorporate our many years of exploring Costa Rica on motorcycles into a very diverse tour that will enhance your visit and make it an experience that you will never forget.

We chose Atenas as our headquarters because of its rural scenic beauty and pleasant climate. At an altitude around 3,000 feet it has one of the best climates in the world according to the National Geographic and NASA. Beautiful sunny days in the 80s and pleasant evenings in the 60s with very low humidity. Surrounded by hills and mountains with numerous coffee fincas, it is a delight to wake up in such a wonderful place as the local people go about their daily lives. We are conveniently located about 30 minutes from the international airport near San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica.

Why Costa Rica? It is a tropical paradise nine degrees north of the equator with Panama to the south and Nicaragua to the north. To the west is the Pacific and to the east is the Caribbean. It is a small, peaceful (no army) democratic country about the size of West Virginia. The people are friendly, the food is great and the water is safe to drink. However, the BIG REASON is that Costa Rica offers unbelievable motorcycling. The major roads are hard surfaced but challenging as they traverse the rugged terrain of numerous mountains. Also we will encounter some non-paved roads and at every turn there is an incredible panoramic vista. You will have an unbelievable fun experience on motorcycles as our experienced guides point out volcanoes, jungles, cloud forest, tropical beaches, rain forests and a variety of flora and fauna.

Our tours are for riders with basic motorcycle skill levels and common sense. The guided portion of your Costa Rica adventure will give you an excellent introduction to the very beautiful country of Costa Rica. In the immediate vicinity are numerous roads to explore plus there are trails near our headquarters that will offer a challenge for those riders who wish to get in some dirt riding on their free days.

Fred Brown:                                              Since 1992 has been exploring Costa Rica and started Motorcylcles Costa Rica along with Jim Thompson. First tours were conducted on local rented motorcycles then began shipping and riding motorcycles to Costa Rica.  A biologist who did medical research, studied and trapped mammals in Venezuela for the Smithsonian. Has been a motorcycle dealer (Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha & Kawasaki) since the early '70s. Also operates a 1/2 mile stock car dirt track, flys hot air balloons and still rides some Hare Scrambles and the Baja 1000 each year. Wife Susan and daughter Ashley make all of this possible.

Jim Thompson:                                               A former high school basketball coach, enduro rider and still competes in Hare Scrambles and is instrumental in developing new tours throughout Central America. Has led several groups from Texas through Central America to Costa Rica.
